On Sunday 09/19/2021 at about 8:24pm, deputies responded to the Overlook Apartments located at 120 West Hill Circle in the Town of Ithaca for a reported shooting. Upon arrival, deputies located a 34 year-old male from Ithaca, NY who had suffered a gun shot wound. The victim was transported by air to a regional trauma center. The victim is currently in stable condition.
The Sheriff's Office is currently attempting to locate a person of interest, James M. Harrigan, a 32 year-old male from Ithaca, NY. If anyone has knowledge regarding Harrigan's whereabouts and/or knowledge surrounding the incident, they are asked to contact the Sheriff's Office at (607) 257-1345 or the tip line at (607) 266-5420.
The victim and suspect are reported to have known each other and have been involved in a verbal dispute prior to the shooting.
The Sheriff's Office was assisted at the scene by the NYSP, Bangs Ambulance and the Ithaca Fire Department.
