On July 8, 2021 at 12:20 PM, Tompkins County Sheriff's Deputies received a larceny complaint. Deputies were advised that a person forged signatures on stolen checks and cashed the checks at a local bank.
Through investigation and bank surveillance footage, deputies identified the suspect as Robert J. Porter, age 38 of Ithaca, NY. Porter was arrested and charged with Forgery in the First Degree (Class C Felony), Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument in the First Degree (Class C Felony), Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree (Class E Felony) and Unlawful Possession of Personal Identification Information in the Third Degree (Class A Misdemeanor).
Porter was arraigned in Ithaca City Court and released.
