February 6, 2021 - Unlawful Fleeing/Reckless Endangerment Arrest

On February 6, 2021 at 9:00 PM, Tompkins County Sheriff's Deputies attempted to stop a Toyota Corolla traveling south on N. Triphammer Road in the Village of Lansing after observing the vehicle operating with only one headlight.

When Deputies activated their emergency lights, the Toyota Corolla failed to yield. The vehicle turned onto Hanshaw Road and then onto Muriel Street now in the Town of Ithaca where the driver abruptly stopped the vehicle in the middle of the roadway and fled on foot. Deputies were able to catch the driver and take the driver into custody.

The driver of the Toyota Corolla was identified as Thuyein Lin, age 29 of Ithaca, NY. There were no other occupants in the vehicle. Deputies charged Lin with Reckless Endangerment in the First Degree (Class D Felony), Unlawfully Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle in the Third Degree (Class A Misdemeanor), Obstructing Governmental Administration in the Second Degree (Class A Misdemeanor) and Unlawful Possession of Marihuana (Violation). Lin was issued traffic tickets in the Town of Lansing, Village of Cayuga Heights and Town of Ithaca.

Lin was released on appearance tickets.
