December 7, 2021 - Menacing Arrest

On December 7, 2021 at 8:58 PM, Tompkins County Sheriff's Deputies responded to an address in Newfield for a report of shots fired.

Upon arrival deputies interviewed the parties involved. Through investigation it was determined that Joseph M. Howell, age 36 of Newfield, NY was the aggressor. Howell was located at a separate location and arrested the same evening.

Howell was charged with Menacing in the Second Degree (Class A Misdemeanor), Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree (Class A Misdemeanor), Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree (Class A Misdemeanor) and Aggravated Harassment in the Second Degree (Class A Misdemeanor). Howell also had an active arrest warrant for Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree (Class D Felony).

Howell was arraigned and remanded to the Tompkins County Jail without bail.
