On December 25, 2020 at 4:43 PM, Tompkins County Sheriff's Deputies were traveling south on Trumansburg Road in the Town of Ithaca when deputies observed a vehicle in front of them driving erratically. The vehicle crossed the centerline and fog line several times and the speed of the vehicle was varying. Once deputies reached the City of Ithaca on Buffalo Street, Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle; however, the vehicle did not pull over.
Eventually, the vehicle pulled over on West State Street in the parking lot of the Ithaca Bus Station and deputies identified the driver as Michele L. Carman, age 28 of Ithaca, NY. During their conversation, Deputies observed signs of impairment and conducted a DWI Investigation, which lead to Carmen’s arrest for Driving While Intoxicated.
Carman was charged with Failure to Keep Right (Traffic Infraction), Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle in the Third Degree (Unclassified Misdemeanor), Driving While Intoxicated (Unclassified Misdemeanor) and Driving While Intoxicated with a BAC of .08% or Greater (Unclassified Misdemeanor). Carman was released on traffic tickets ordering her to return to the City of Ithaca Court on January 7, 2021 at 1:30 PM.
