On December 14, 2020 at 9:20 PM, Tompkins County Sheriff's Deputies conducted a traffic stop on Blackchin Blvd in the Town of Lansing after observing a black Buick sedan speeding. Deputies identified the driver as Darin J. Fergus, age 32 of Ithaca, NY. During the course of their investigation, deputies detected an odor of marihuana and subsequently conducted a search of Fergus’ vehicle. The search resulted in locating marihuana and several non-prescribed Xanax and Oxycodone pills in Fergus’s possession.
Fergus was charged with Criminal Possession of Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree (Class A Misdemeanor) and Speed in Zone (Traffic Infraction). Fergus was released on an appearance ticket ordering Fergus to return to the Town of Lansing Court at a later date.
