No immediate family member transactions will be accepted at this time.
If you have a Green Paper Pistol Permit:
When adding a firearm from a dealer you must fill out TWO ORIGINALS of this amendment form (all highlighted areas are required) and send BOTH ORIGINALS to us along with the following items:
- Original or copy of the bill of sale from the Federal Firearms Dealer, which must include the dealer's name and address along with a description of the firearm.
- A copy of your entire permit.
- Payment of $3.00 (cash or check made out to Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office).
- Your contact phone number so we can reach you with any questions.
- Self-Addressed Stamped Envelope, we will mail back a purchase coupon and an updated permit gun stub to keep with your paper license.
If you have a Plastic Pistol Permit Card:
When adding a firearm from a dealer you must fill out TWO ORIGINALS of this amendment form (all highlighted areas are required) and send BOTH ORIGINALS to us along with the following items:
- Original or copy of the bill of sale from the Federal Firearms Dealer, which must include the dealer's name and address along with a description of the firearm.
- Issued Plastic Pistol Permit Card (not a copy) along with additional paper gun stub if applicable (if you own more than five handguns). *Until you receive your new license you are not authorized to carry any of your currently registered handguns.
- Payment (cash or check made out to Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office):
- $8.00 if a new Plastic Pistol Permit Card will be printed.
- $3.00 if you already have five handguns listed on the back of your Pistol Permit and therefore a new Plastic License Card will not be printed (in this case an updated permit gun stub will be returned to you).
- Your contact phone number so we can reach you with any questions.
- Self-Addressed Stamped Envelope, we will mail back a purchase coupon and an updated Pistol Permit.
