The Tompkins County Department of Assessment is still open for business M-F, 8:00am to 4:30pm however, we will be locking our front doors to help encourage good social distancing practices. One of our members of our staff will meet you at the front door to assist you. We encourage that if you are simply dropping off information to utilize our dropbox located near our front entrance (on the side of 128 E Buffalo St).
The assessor is not involved in the levy, extension, collection or enforcement of local real property taxes.

This office was consolidated in 1970 to provide the highest possible service at the lowest possible cost to the residents of Tompkins County. Our office is dedicated to ensuring that all properties are assessed at a uniform percentage of market value.
